Located in the heart of the Loire Valley, on the banks of the Vienne River, the Chinon appellation is considered one of France’s leading references for Cabernet Franc. The vineyard benefits from a temperate climate with oceanic influence, ideal for preserving freshness and aromatic finesse.
The terroirs of Chinon are particularly diverse: limestone hillsides of tuffeau, clay-limestone plateaus, and alluvial terraces create a mosaic of soils that strongly influence the style of the wines. This diversity allows winemakers to craft profiles ranging from supple, fruit-driven wines to more complex cuvées with excellent aging potential.
Red wines largely dominate production. They reveal aromas of ripe red fruits, blackcurrant, and violet, sometimes accompanied by elegant vegetal, spicy, or smoky notes. On the palate, the balance between freshness, structure, and elegance is what makes Chinon renowned. Rosés, fresh and aromatic, as well as the rare whites made from Chenin Blanc, harmoniously complete the range.
